The Baobab Collective Fund

8 Sep 2022 - 14:18 by michelle.foster

Baobab are excited to announce a new £3 million fund to grow, sustain, and strengthen Black and Global Majority communities that are resisting racial injustice in the UK.

fundingBaobab Foundation is a new pro-black foundation resourcing racial justice through Black African/Caribbean and Global Majority communities.

Baobab is pro-Black, with 70% of their resources going direct to Black African/Caribbean heritage individuals, groups and organisations. Baobab are a people-driven movement which believes that the communities harmed by racism are best placed to create change, and so it aims to resource those with direct, lived experience of the issues they are addressing.

The fund is not issue-led, giving space for communities working towards racial justice in different ways to share their creativity, passion and gifts. The fund will work consciously with individuals, groups and organisations whose purpose and practices are focused on collectively addressing racial justice and intersectionality and challenging oppressive systems.

Baobab will offer grants of between £5,000 and £30,000 per year for up to five years.

If you are funded, you will be able to access ongoing support, which will be co-designed with the network.

The fund is open to individuals over the age of 18, groups, collectives, social movements and organisations led by and for Black and Global Majority people working on racial justice in any of the four UK nations.

There are three stages to the fund
