The major funder has made significant changes to how it will deliver funding schemes in the coming years.
In response to the events of the past years, BBC Children in Need has developed a new charitable ambition based on the principles of:
- Sharing power with children and young people
- Acting flexibly
- Building awareness and empathy
- Building partnerships to bring communities and investors together
Changes to the grants process are set to include a separate grants stream for core (organisational) costs and an additional stream for smaller, emerging organisations who may need greater support to access funding. This will be in addition to project funding, similar to the funding streams which have been offered previously.
Organisations will only be able to apply for one stream per year, and so should choose the one most appropriate to their work.
The new approach will recognise the importance of responding quickly and directly to need, and also building long-term and strategic partnerships, using a ‘combined portfolio’ which focuses on the complementary nature of different types of funding.
The new funding streams are set to open in October 2022.
