Be Proud Awards 2014

29 Aug 2014 - 10:39 by michelle.foster

Do you have a neighbour you couldn’t live without or know of a local business that has a positive impact on your area?
Is there a community volunteer who goes 'above and beyond' or a young person whose passion and commitment really stands out?
Don’t miss your chance to celebrate your community heroes in the annual Be Proud Awards.

The Awards are a chance to say thank you to those groups and individuals who have worked hard to help their local area shine, who have supported their neighbours and communities, and who have been personally inspiring.

No matter what the accomplishment, there are categories to praise people of all ages and projects of all sizes.

Categories include the Volunteer of the Year Award, which applauds those who give their time for others, and the Neighbour of the Year Award, which pays tribute to those who go the extra mile for their local residents. The Young Achiever Award praises under-18s who’ve made a difference, and there is an accolade for an Unsung Hero – someone who deserves recognition for their hard work.

Meanwhile, if you know a local safety warrior, they could be perfect for the Community Force Award. You can also thank a friend for helping their community to grow through gardening.

The Awards are about community and, fittingly, some categories are open to groups, projects and businesses.

The Creativity in the Community Award draws attention to artistic enterprises that have brought people together, the Clean City Award supports Eco-activists for making Manchester greener as part of the Clean City programme, and the Project of the Year Award celebrates inclusive and innovative schemes.

Finally, there is the Pride of Manchester Community Diamond Award, which honours the best individual or project from the winners of each of the other categories.

The awards are open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Manchester.
