2018 marks the 100-year anniversary of the Representation of the People Act 1918, when women were given the vote for the first time. Throughout 2018, Manchester, the birthplace of women’s suffrage, is marking this huge milestone for women’s equality with an exciting programme of events and activities taking place across Manchester and involving all of the city’s diverse communities. 
Organise an event
Help to celebrate the centenary by organising your own event or activity. It could be: a talk; a walk; a discussion; a trip; a party; a happening; or really anything that you want to do that celebrates the role of women in Manchester. Be as creative and ambitious as you like!
Funding
There is funding available from Government Equalities Office:
Small Grants of between £300 – £2,000 for grassroots projects to run small-scale events and activities. Open for bids now! The closing date is: 18 May 2018.
A further round of funding will open on 12 July 2018 with the closing date: 14 September 2018
Large Grants of between £2,000 and £65,000 to fund projects that increase the understanding of, and engagement with, democracy, and encourage women to participate in public life. Open for bids in April.
