Child Safety Week 1st - 7th June 2026 Making prevention possible

Manchester is the top city in the UK for serious burns and scalds in young children. Every year, an average of 900 children aged 0-5 are treated on the specialist burns ward at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital with potentially life-changing injuries. Children from disadvantaged families are overrepresented in preventable accidents. Child Safety Week is the Child Accident Prevention Trust’s community education campaign.

The Child Accident Prevention Trust is:

  • Empowering families to make simple safety changes.
  • Helping professionals with easy wins and free resources to share

As part of The Child Accident Prevention Trust’s SCAR FREE project in Manchester, they are equipping trusted community groups with accessible educational resources – including picture-based resources for parents with poor literacy and English as a second language.
