Common Ground

Common Ground is a free community wellbeing programme for adults aged 21-40 across Greater Manchester, delivered by Roots and Resilience Therapies CIC and funded by The National Lottery Awards for All.

Common Ground offers small, facilitated group sessions in accessible community spaces, designed to reduce social isolation and support emotional wellbeing. The programme is psychologically informed but intentionally non-clinical – built around connection, shared experience and early support, rather than diagnosis or treatment.

It has been developed specifically for people who may not meet the threshold for statutory mental health services, face barriers to accessing private therapy, or who have not always felt seen or supported within traditional systems. Participants do not need a formal diagnosis to take part.

Each cohort runs across five fortnightly sessions (2 hours each), with refreshments provided. Sessions will cover themes including stress, emotional wellbeing, confidence, coping strategies and peer connection.

Schedule

  • Manchester – August 2026
  • Bolton – October 2026
  • Salford – January 2027
  • Stockport – March 2027

Who this is for
The programme is suitable for adults experiencing mild to moderate difficulties including stress, low mood, anxiety, loneliness or emotional overwhelm. Particularly those from culturally diverse and underserved communities.

Participants are welcome to apply for any of the four locations. They are not limited to the area closest to them.

Please note the programme is not suitable for individuals currently in crisis or requiring intensive mental health support. Where this is the case, appropriate signposting will always be provided.
