Since March 2010, Manchester City Council has been working in partnership with the owners of Manchester City Football Club – the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) – to develop a transformational plan for east Manchester focused on the area in and around the Etihad Stadium. This work has been guided by the Eastlands Regeneration Framework, which was approved by Manchester City Council’s Executive in July 2011.
The regeneration and investment that has flowed from the Regeneration Framework has transformed much of the area around the Etihad Campus and has been the catalyst for the eastward expansion of the city centre. This presents an exciting opportunity to maintain the momentum of and encourage further investment into the Etihad Campus and the wider area, particularly the neighbourhoods of Holt Town and Lower Medlock Valley, which connect the city centre with the Etihad Campus via the Ashton Canal Corridor.
To assist this process, a review of the Regeneration Framework has been undertaken for the Eastlands area, and this was presented to Manchester City Council’s Executive in March 2017. This draft Eastlands Regeneration Framework 2017 has been approved as a basis for public consultation, and the exercise will be led by Manchester City Council.
Further details on the framework and the consultation process can be here: www.manchester.gov.uk/eastlandsregeneration where you can view and download a complete copy of the draft Eastlands Regeneration Framework. Please note that the closing date for the consultation responses is Wednesday 5 July 2017.
Manchester City Council is keen to hear what stakeholders think about the proposals set out in the Framework. To discuss these proposals, contact Anne Taylor on 0161 234 1100.
A local consultation drop-in event will be taking place, place on Thursday 29 June at Beswick Library, Grey Mare Lane, Beswick between 4pm and 7pm.
