Join free online courses in mindfulness skills for health and wellbeing

This autumn, Manchester City Council is funding free spaces for Manchester City residents on mindfulness courses for people with challenging health conditions including long covid, pain and disabilities of any kind, as well as for carers and family supporters.

Introductory Online Session - Get a taste of mindfulness, learn some skills, and find out about free courses: 6 October 2021, 11am - 12:15pm

Online courses, running over 9 weekly sessions and starting from:

  • 6 October 2021, 7pm - 8.15pm Long Covid specific course
  • 14 October 2021, 11am - 12.15pm
  • 19 October 2021, 7pm - 8.15pm

The courses are run by Breathworks, a Manchester-based charity providing training in living well with pain, illness and stress for more than twenty years. Breathworks’ Mindfulness for Health resources are recommended by the British Medical Association and the NHS Books on Prescription scheme, and courses are taught by experienced community trainers, many of whom manage health conditions themselves.

Sessions are designed to help make health conditions and other challenges easier to live with, through mindful approaches to managing fatigue and discomfort, pacing, steadying the mind, and conserving energy for sustainable living. Information about course content and the evidence base available here

Participants with challenging health conditions report numerous benefits following the course, including being better able to manage their health, feeling able to do more and to enjoy life more, and feeling less alone.

Courses are freely available for city residents this autumn thanks to Manchester City Council support.
