Manchester is an eclectic and welcoming city and for many years which has been tackling the causes of inequality and demonstrating the benefits of diverse and cohesive communities. Manchester City Council recognises that community cohesion does not happen by itself – it is driven by people making an effort to support one another in their communities and neighbourhoods. They want to build on this by holding events and activities throughout their annual Hate Crime Awareness Week 2017. You can help do this by holding an event or activity in your neighbourhood. Events should raise awareness of hate crime, encourage reporting or celebrate the diversity of this great city.
Your group can apply for a grant of up to £400 to assist with the event. The funds can be used to cover the costs of room hire, speakers, food, arts/crafts, running workshops, developing a play or a film, or any other reasonable costs for holding an activity or event as part of Manchester's Hate Crime Awareness Week 2017. Any event must take place between Monday 6 February and Sunday 12 February 2017.
Application forms are available on the Manchester City Council website and the Making Manchester Safer website: www.makingmanchestersafer.com/info/4/hate_crime . Forms can be submitted online or are available to download and return by post or email.
Deadline: 2 December 2016
