Manchester Central Food Bank, a lifeline for the communities of Central, North, and East Manchester, is facing a crisis that threatens its vital services. About Manchester Central Food Bank
Manchester Central Foodbank is an established charity serving the communities of Central, North and East Manchester. Manchester Central Food Bank distribute food to over 1200 people per month through emergency food parcels, 41% of these people are children. Their mission extends beyond providing immediate relief, Manchester Central Food Bank also support people to maximise their income through a Healthy Start Vouchers campaigning and commissioning Citizens Advice to deliver face to face support in their food bank sessions. Manchester Central Food Bank work with schools and advice agencies across the city, where they work tirelessly to combat poverty through family sessions, uniform projects, signposting support, and the creation of anti-poverty communities.

The crisis at hand
Manchester Central Food Bank are currently based in St Peters House, which is closing. and so are seeking support from the communities of Manchester. The timeline is uncertain, but it is highly likely that we will need to vacate our premises in the next 6 months. As of now, Manchester Central Food Bank have nowhere to go.

How you can help
Manchester Central Food Bank are reaching out to the people of Manchester with an urgent plea. Manchester Central Food Bank is in search of:

  • Secure office space for at least 5 people at any one time
  • Warehouse space  – approx 100 square metres with electricity, access 7 days a week and access for a delivery lorry
  • Secure parking for our food bank van
  • A large community room, or a hall to run a food bank session in, preferably with storage in the City Centre / Ardwick / Longsight area

Manchester Central Food Bank have a small budget for the above and are prepared to pay reasonable rent. Ideally Manchester Central Food Bank need all of the above in the same building, but may need to split the above across multiple sites.
