North West Poverty Monitor

Resolve Poverty are pleased to launch the North West Poverty Monitor, a new resource which reveals the scale and nature of poverty across Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.

The Poverty Monitor is a free, easy-to-navigate tool which provides data across six themes: poverty and deprivation, education, fuel and food insecurity, housing and homelessness, the labour market, and social security and debt.

Apply to join the Making Manchester Fairer Anti-Poverty Insight Group

Make Manchester Fairer are looking for 12 Manchester residents who are passionate about and have lived experience of poverty to support the delivery of the city’s Anti-Poverty Strategy. They will provide insight and constructive challenge as members of a new Making Manchester Fairer Anti-Poverty Insight Group.

Poverty Awareness and Support training for Ardwick / Longsight staff and workers

If you have an interest in learning more about poverty in general, or specifically relevant information for Ardwick and Longsight, and find out about local support options Resolve Poverty are delivering two special training sessions for local staff / workers from local organisations and VCSE groups.

Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust applications focused on food poverty (UK)

The Trust supports registered UK charities that work with communities in the UK. The funding is intended to support those in society who face the greatest challenges and whose opportunities are the most limited.

The Trust operates a three-year rotation system, with different fields of interest being funded each year. There are normally four application rounds per year with applications accepted for one month only, usually in February, April, July and September. Charities can only apply for one round per calendar year.

Macc is delighted to announce that, following an open tender process, we have once again been successful in securing the contract with Manchester City Council to deliver infrastructure support to the city's voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) sector. This work enables us to support charities, community groups (including the community work done by faith organisations), voluntary groups, and social enterprises to be healthy, sustainable, well-run and above all, impactful for our communities.

Mustard Tree - Anti-poverty charity to say thank you to supporters at 30th anniversary street party event

Mustard Tree charity will pay homage to volunteers, donors, clients and partners as part of creative showcase on Friday 7 June, 2pm – 5pm, outside Ancoats hub, with music, fashion and art performances from charity’s creative clubs.

Nourish the Nation

Sainsbury’s Nourish the Nation programme, in partnership with Comic Relief, aims to tackle food poverty by helping people access the balanced, nutritional, and sustainable food they need, right now and in the future. The aim of the Fund is to provide school children (up to Year 11) with improved access to summer holiday activity and food schemes.

Nourish the Nation is offering 22 awards of £10,000 in the Greater Manchester area.

Brick by Brick

The Brick Multibank receives surplus goods that would have otherwise been recycled or disposed of from both local and national companies. The items are stored at the warehouse and then distributed to people who need them through local charities, community groups, schools and professionals. These essential items range from bedding and cleaning products to clothes and toiletries.
 
The Brick are looking to expand their coverage more comprehensively into Greater Manchester by collaborating with charities and community groups across Greater Manchester.
