An upcoming grants programme is aiming to change the narrative around disability across Greater Manchester.
GMCVO will be seeking applications from voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) organisations, working in Greater Manchester, for the benefit of Greater Manchester residents, to encourage a change in the narrative around disability by improving accessibility and inclusion for Deaf and disabled people.
This is the second year of this strategic grant programme, funded by GM Integrated Care Partnership, as part of the implementation of the recommendations from The Greater Manchester Mental Wellbeing and Disability Report.
GMCVO expect to fund around six organisations with grants of £7,500 - £15,000 to develop 12 month projects that will raise awareness of, and lead to change in the way that services, policies, practices, activities and events are created for Deaf and/or disabled people, beginning in September 2024.
This is a strategic grants programme.
GMCVO will be asking applicants to provide proposals for innovative projects which will encourage, embed or increase good practice around:
- Listening to Deaf and/or disabled people and including them in the co-creation of services, policies, practices, events and activities.
- Joining up services so support is offered holistically, ensuring it is tailored to the need and preferences of the individual.
- Removing any ‘one size fits all’ approaches.
- Improving support for Deaf and/or disabled people wanting to take on volunteering opportunities.
Ideal projects will be designed and led by Deaf and/or disabled people. If your project is not designed and led by Deaf and/or disabled people then Deaf and/or disabled people must be involved in all stages of the development and delivery.
Your organisation may work Greater Manchester-wide or in a specific location in any of the ten localities.
GMCVO are hosting an online briefing event for this programme on 26 June, 12.30pm-2pm on Zoom, register here
