14 Nov 2014 - 10:36 by michelle.foster

Do you know a woman, or group of women, who really inspire you, are passionate, dedicated and have helped improve the lives of others? If so, nominate them for an International Women's Day award 2015.

If you know a woman, or group of women, whose hard work and dedication has significantly improved the lives of Manchester residents, or they have excelled in their field, you can nominate them now.

Finalists will be invited to an awards evening on Friday 6 March 2015 at Manchester Town Hall. The night will include a VIP drinks reception, a gala dinner and entertainment from comedian Barbara Guest. It will be an opportunity for women to be formally recognised for their hard work and network with organisations, elected Members, senior women from the statutory, voluntary, and business sector as well as individual women, groups and residents from our diverse communities.

Who you can nominate
The person you nominate must work, volunteer or be resident in the area covered by Manchester City Council.

If you're nominating an organisation, they must provide services for women within the area covered by Manchester City Council.

Management committee members and paid staff cannot nominate their own organisation.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2015 is 'breaking through'. Women are defying stereotypes and breaking through in all areas from sports, science, politics, community activism, human rights, health, to media, legal and business.

If you would like to nominate a woman, or group of women, please choose an award category and complete the nomination form.

You can only apply through the online form:
• Breaking through in volunteering - improving an area in Manchester or the lives of a community
• Breaking through in campaigning - championing social issues to improve the lives of our residents
• Breaking through in sport and leisure or art and culture - excelling in sport, leisure or the arts
• Breaking through in business and legal or science and technology - excelling and innovating in these fields
