JUMP Arts Club for people out of work

15 Apr 2014 - 10:06 by michelle.foster

JUMP is an arts club for people out of work run by the Edge Theatre Company, which provides a regular space for people to take part in a range of different arts activities.

For Spring/Summer 2014, they are running the following courses:

JUMP Singing for Fun Course
This 10 Session Course will take place on Wednesday mornings.
Course runs until 5 May 2014 at 11am – 1pm.
New joiners are welcome at any time
The course is run by Musical Director, Simon Waters. Singing improves your heart, lungs, emotional well being and self-confidence. It can reduce stress levels and, when people sing together, increases a sense of community, belonging and shared endeavour.

JUMP Painting and Drawing Course
This course runs for 6 sessions on Thursday afternoons.
The course starts on 1 May at 1pm – 3pm.
Learn the skills of drawing and painting and explore your own creativity.

JUMP Writing for Theatre Course
This is a 10 Session course, running twice. Choose from Wednesday Mornings or Monday/Tuesday Evenings (Tuesdays when there is a Bank Holiday).
Morning Course starts on 28 April 2014 at 11am – 1pm
Evening Course starts on 23 April 2014 at 7pm – 9pm

The course is run by theatre writer Ben Mellor, and will teach you new skills, build confidence and develop creativity.

JUMP Writing Collective
Running now on Wednesdays at 11am – 1pm.
Peer-led group
Since JUMP Write, their free course for unemployed people, ended in November, members of the group have started their own peer-led writing group.
The group will meet at The Edge to collaborate and gain support from each other. There will be visits from professional writers, a chance to share your work with like-minded people and, in March, there will be a script-in-hand performance of the group’s work.

Anyone is welcome to join in. These sessions are free and coffees and teas will be provided.

No experience is necessary.

The courses are funded by Manchester City Council and the Skills Funding Agency.
