The launch of The Sacred Heart Family Hub- Gorton, Abbey Hey and Openshaw

The fourth Family Hub is now officially launched this week: The Sacred Heart Family Hub-Gorton, Abbey Hey and Openshaw.

What is Family Hubs?

In 2022, the Department of Education awarded Manchester, along with 75 cities in the UK, significant  funding to be able extend the current support for families with children up to 19 years old and families with children with special educational needs and disabilities up to 25 years old.  This 3-year programme aims to deliver outcomes for babies, children, young people, parents and carers. The purpose of this work is for families with young children to develop a single point of access to help and support, to develop better connections between services, professional and sectors working with families and to build better relationships with families to strengthen families.

The strategy is bring a range of services that family need, including midwifery, health visiting, infant feeding , mental health, education, early help, adult education, youth and play activities, career Connect and family peer support together in one place so it’s easier to access or to know where to access when families need it. Part of the Family Hubs model is to co-locate services and professionals to where families are so not to ask families to engage with multiple services on multiple sites.

Where are the Family Hubs?

There are now four Family Hubs across Manchester. These are:
