Local Mind Week 2024

From Monday 5 August Manchester Mind are marking Local Mind Week. Manchester Mind will be sharing some wonderful stories from their staff, volunteers and trustees.

Did you know?

  • There are over 100 local Minds across England, Wales and the Channel Islands
  • Local Minds are supporting more people than ever. The latest data for last year shows that 623,361 people were supported by a local Mind – that’s an increase of almost 25% on the previous year.
  • Local Minds provided 1387 unique services last year
  • Local Minds employed 4931 people last year (full time equivalent) and 55% of those employees have lived experience of a mental health problem
  • 5673 people volunteered at their local Mind last year contributing almost 234k (thousand) hours of support
  • 833 trustees provided support at board level

In 2022, Manchester Mind marked their first ever Local Mind Week to recognise all the work done by #YourLocalMind.

Manchester Mind believe that no one should face a mental health problem alone. Manchester Mind support local people to feel valued and improve their mental health.
What does #YourLocalMind do?

Even though local Mind’s are all one big family and work alongside national Mind, Manchester Mind raises funds independently to help support the mental health of people in Manchester.
Manchester Mind are proud to be part of the Mind family. Manchester Mind share’s knowledge and ideas. And nationally, Mind helps to support Manchester Mind’s work, but there are unique benefits to #YourLocalMind.

Being local, means Manchester Mind understand their community – so they provide responsive mental health services that meet changing local needs. Manchester Mind believe in the power of listening and being heard, so they can offer the right support for people in Manchester. Last year Manchester Mind supported over 8000 adults and young people.
