8 May 2015 - 09:59 by michelle.foster

4CT Limited is a charity based in East Manchester established 10 years ago. The charity runs the Grange Community Centre in Beswick and Sporting Edge in Openshaw and has a wide range of services including youth clubs, luncheon club and activities for children with disabilities.

4CT secured a grant from the Big Lottery Fund (Reaching Communities Programme) for a new ‘Get Ready for Work’ scheme which will support 10 work clubs across North and East Manchester. The scheme launched on 1 April 2015, with four staff who support volunteers who help people to look for work. The appointed staff members are Jane Bramley, Project Coordinator, Jane Holden, Project Worker (East), Mark O’Pray, Project Worker (North) and Julia Evans, Project Administrator.

Each work club is based in a community centre where local people can access help and support in doing a CV, applying for jobs and learning interview and other relevant skills.

Chair of 4CT, Irene Baron, said: “we are absolutely delighted with this funding, we have been operating work clubs for nearly a year but this money will mean we can do more and support more local residents”.

The project will work in partnership with community groups and centres including Surestart in Gorton and centres in North Manchester such as Whitemoss Community Centre and Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project. Chief Executive of 4CT, Claire Evans, added: “over the 3 years we expect to support at least 300 people, many of whom will be people who have been out of work for a long time and who have lots of skills but struggle to secure employment”.
