manchester international festivalManchester is building The Factory, a world-class cultural space in the heart of the city – and Manchester International Festival are looking for a young writer, based in Greater Manchester, to help develop the brand messaging for this extraordinary project. Whether you’re a novelist or a journalist, a blogger or a poet, it’s a great opportunity to help shape the story of MIF’s future year-round home.

What you’ll do
You’ll help to find creative ways to bring the story of The Factory to life from a vital local perspective. Who is The Factory for? What sets it apart? And why should someone check it out?

What you’ll learn
You’ll get a chance to develop several skills that are key for many creative careers, particularly in brand writing and communications:

  •     Developing a creative brief
  •     Writing clear, compelling copy
  •     Thinking strategically about a brand and its audience
  •     Finding a creative hook that will get people’s attention
  •     Working as part of a diverse creative team

What you’ll receive
You’ll receive a fee of £500.

Who can apply?
Any young writer based in Greater Manchester aged under 26. You must be eligible to work in the UK and must be responsible for your own tax. You don’t need to have any previous paid experience as a writer, but you do need to send us examples of your writing.
