Get Started is a series of week-long courses designed to introduce young people to the creative industries, gain confidence and learn new skills. Delivered by Manchester International Festival and The Factory Academy in partnership with the Prince's Trust, the courses are open to anyone in Greater Manchester aged 16-25 who are not currently in education, employment or training.
What will the courses involve?
15 participants will be selected for each one-week course, which will run between January and March 2022. You can choose from one of three bespoke creative courses which will help you to develop essential skills and gain invaluable experience needed to start a new career in the creative industries. Across the week, you’ll take part in masterclasses and workshops – all taught by expert leaders and guest speakers in the creative and digital sector – and then take these learnings and apply them to your own live project.
Participants can choose from one of the following courses:
- Digital Design (14-18 February)
- Social Media Marketing (28 February - 4 March)
- Public Speaking and Spoken Word (21-25 March)
Who can apply?
The courses are open to anyone aged 16-25 and a resident in Greater Manchester, who are not currently in education, employment (16 hours or less) or training. You don’t need any previous experience.
Travel, lunch and refreshments will be provided by MIF. There is no cost to the course, it is completely free. However, each course is limited to 15 people.
