Maternity Action aims to improve the health outcome of asylum seeking and migrant women who are pregnant and new mothers by providing them with advice on housing, support and accessing healthcare
This short session will cover an introduction to the project and details of Maternity Action’s new Migrant Women Housing and Support Advice Service.
Eileen Stringer, Clinical Lead Midwife for GMEC Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) will be speaking about how the service will support the LMNS and midwifery teams.
Sandra Cahill, Specialist Midwife for Refugees from St Mary's Hospital and Patricia Gay, Enhanced Care Midwife from North Manchester General Hospital will speak about the particular needs of this group.
The session will also cover:
- A short introduction on the new service
- Information on the areas of advice Maternity Action can provide
- Details of how to refer women to the service
The session will also involve an interactive discussion on how Maternity Action can work with local groups to promote and improve access to the service.
