Opportunity to get involved in research exploring people’s experiences and views about what immigrant integration means and involves

23 Jan 2015 - 10:16 by michelle.foster

Two researchers from the University of Manchester are currently working on a project which explores people’s experiences and views about what immigrant integration means and involves.

The research project, Unity out of Diversity? Perspectives on the adaptations of immigrants in Britain, is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.

As part of the project, the researchers are planning to run focus groups with members of the public (aged 18+) as well as interviews with representatives of community organisations across Manchester and would like to hear from members of voluntary and community groups who might be interested in contributing to the research.

Participants in the focus groups will be compensated for their time with a £15 Love2Shop voucher. The researchers will also cover costs for room hire (if required) and refreshments. They would also be happy to offer research support services that might be helpful for the organisations they work with, as a token of appreciation for helping them with the recruitment process and the interviews. These services might include, for example, analysis of data that organisations have already collected, review of literature or design of questionnaires – but other options can also be discussed.

If you are interested in a collaboration with the team, contact the researchers Laurence Lessard-Phillips and Silvia Galandini, on 0161 306 6561, or email: [email protected]
