Rochdale Pioneers Museum Virtual Visit 2021

20 Nov 2021 - 13:42 by charlotte.chilvers

Pioneer visits go virtual

Number 31 Toad Lane (known as Rochdale Pioneers Museum); premises of the first modern co-operative, traditionally draws visitors from the neighbourhood and all over the world as part of the global coop movement.
With increased demand for digital services in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we understood that some groups would find it harder to visit in person. Ours is a shared global heritage and we wanted to find a way to make it more accessible to people who might find visiting in person difficult because they have extra needs, or are outside Rochdale Borough.

The virtual tour takes our narrator Payal on a journey from Toad Lane in Rochdale to Manchester in the North West of England. She walks in the footsteps of the Pioneers to understand how they started their venture in a time of crisis and find out why the values and principles they used are still so important to co-ops today.

You can rent and download the film and a version with English subtitles here.

If you would like to folow up your virtual visit with a live Q and A just get in touch at [email protected] to find out more.

Renting the film helps our charity to reach a worldwide audience to share the unique heritage belonging to Rochdale and directly supports our small independent charity.
We can also offer a discount to small community co-ops in the UK or in developing nations on request by contacting [email protected]
