Sporting Equals are seeking organisations in Greater Manchester to help support a women and teenage girls project

sporting equalsSporting Equals are putting together a project to help enable the least active girls aged 15-18 in Manchester, particularly those from lower income and diverse backgrounds, to try new activities in their communities, to help them get active, and stay active, for life.

The focus is on girls from Black backgrounds (Black-Caribbean, African, Mixed) because these girls tend to be the least active with activities like dance, yoga, aerobics, fitness etc.

The project will run from August 2021 through till March 2022 with a 6 month delivery period.  The selected organisations will receive £2,500 to help support the project. You will also receive additional training and support from Sporting Equals.

Commitments of the organisations will be to:

  • Help engage a steering group of girls to help co-design the project in August 2021
  • Host facilitation of steering groups and focus groups at your venue
  • Take ownership of the delivery/implementation plan being taking forward by the girls
  • Sign an SLA to support a 6 month delivery period from September 2021 to March 2022
  • Ensure the delivery is regularly monitored for regular engagement and sessions are being delivered
  • Help promote the sessions to local girls from South Asian and Black backgrounds
  • Support the data collection and monitoring requirement of the project
  • Work with the Sporting Equals Regional Manager to help support wider partnership links to the project to ensure long term sustainability and legacy
