Stand Up for Manchester Rally - 3 February

Organised by Labour councillors, the rally is aimed at voluntary groups, trade unions, churches, charities and individuals who feel Manchester has had a raw deal.

Cllr. Pat Karney is inviting everybody from across the voluntary and community sector to join the Labour Councillors at the rally.

Organised by Labour councillors, the rally is aimed at voluntary groups, trade unions, churches, charities and individuals who feel Manchester has had a raw deal. They are particularly angry that northern urban councils lost far more funding than leafy areas in the south.

Coun Pat Karney said: “We will be lighting up Albert Square with hundreds of smart phones like they did in Hong Kong to send the message to Cameron and Osborne.

“At 6pm, we want to create a magical Manchester moment where everyone will send together their tweets about unfair cuts to Manchester.”
