University of Manchester Students’ Union Board member vacancy

With almost 40,000 student members, the University of Manchester Students’ Union is a great and a vibrant place to work. The Union is a registered charity and has a vacancy on its Board of Trustees for an External Trustee position. The Students’ Union wants someone who can provide sound financial oversight and contribute to delivering the new strategic plan.

Applications are welcomed from those with particular expertise, knowledge and experience of:
• Charity Governance and the roles and responsibilities of trustees
• Charity finance, budgets and reporting
• The ability to scrutinise and ask challenging questions on the charity’s finances
• Interpreting financial information and offering easy to understand financial explanations to fellow Trustee Board members
• Helping to ensure the necessary financial oversight for the charity
• Being a great team player and able to be supportive of others

The position is an important one and the ability to be able to fulfil the necessary time commitment for the role is essential. The position is open for an initial term of 3 years and is voluntary, although expenses for travel etc. will be paid.

Induction and additional support will be provided following appointment.
