Welcome to the second episode of Food Stories, a podcast from FareShare Greater Manchester. This time FareShare Greater Manchester are sharing a few stories from their brilliant volunteers.
Last year, FareShare Greater Manchester rescued almost 2,000 tonnes of good-to-eat surplus food from going to waste. That food was redistributed to more than 300 charities and community groups across Greater Manchester and in real terms equated to 4.6 million meals. FareShare Greater Manchester would not be able to do the work they do without their fantastic volunteers who last year donated over 21,000 hours of their time to their operation.
Hear from Head of Volunteering and Employability Programmes, Liz Lauder and listen to some of the volunteers speak about why they give their time to help FareShare Greater Manchester with their work and what they get from doing that. FareShare Greater Manchester also taking you out on the road with them on one of their delivery rounds.
You can listen to the podcast on their website here as well as on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other podcast platforms too.
