This Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) survey seeks to understand Greater Manchester residents’ experiences and concerns regarding the impacts of climate change, as well as the types of support that could help communities strengthen their resilience.
This information will then be used to inform GMCA’s Climate Adaptation Strategy. As climate risks disproportionately affect vulnerable people, including older residents, low-income households, and those experiencing multiple disadvantages, reaching these communities and also underrepresented groups is a priority for GMCA.
GMCA are making a plan to help Greater Manchester cope with risks such as flooding and heatwaves, called the Greater Manchester Climate Resilience Strategy. This is to help us stay safe and protect our homes and communities.
The biggest risks facing Greater Manchester due to climate change are flooding, extreme heat, major storms and wildfires, so this survey will focus mostly on those.
