Manchester Village Pride CIC is seeking passionate, diverse voices to join their Community Advisory Board (CAB) and help shape the future of their events.
About: The CIC and the Directors
Manchester Village Pride CIC is a community interest company. The Board of Directors manages the operational realities of the annual event, ensuring the stages are safe, the logistics are sound, and the bills are paid. The CAB do not ‘own’ the event; rather, they work on its behalf. The CIC are legally bound to exist solely for the benefit, celebration, and support of the Greater Manchester LGBTQ+ community.
The role of the Community Advisory Board
While the Directors manage the operational heavy lifting, the CAB exists to ensure the organisation remains authentically rooted in the community it serves.The CAB is an independent, community-led panel that acts as a vital sounding board. Your purpose is to ensure that a diverse range of lived experiences and community views are heard, valued, and integrated into the decision-making.
As a CAB member, your primary responsibilities will be to:
- Represent Diverse Perspectives: Act as a voice for the wider LGBTQ+ community, ensuring our planning, accessibility, and outreach efforts are truly inclusive and welcoming to everyone.
- Act as a Strategic Sounding Board: Review and advise on community engagement strategies, operational policies, and event planning to ensure the Village Party remains a safe, positive, and vital presence within the Gay Village.
- Guide Charitable Impact: Provide insight and advice on how we can most effectively distribute the proceeds of the CIC to support our partner charities (George House Trust, akt, The Proud Trust, LGBT Foundation, Sparkle).
- Shape the Event's Identity: Consult on and approve the overarching theme for the weekend, guaranteeing that it remains respectful, culturally relevant, and reflective of our shared history and future.
The CAB are looking for
A successful advisory board is built on a breadth of perspectives. The CAB want this board to reflect the full, vibrant spectrum of Greater Manchester’s LGBTQ+ community, and warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities. The CAB particularly encourage applications from individuals who bring lived experience of underrepresented communities, or who feel their voice is often missing from decision-making spaces.
The CAB are looking for voices from across the following groups:
- The Community: Any member of the LGBTQ+ community across Greater Manchester who is passionate about the shared culture.
- Charity Representatives: Individuals connected to the grassroots charitable groups that are actively funded and supported.
- Local Residents and Workers: People who live or work within the Gay Village and who understand the practical realities of navigating the noise and crowds during the event weekend.

Availability: You must be available over the Manchester Village Pride Weekend, taking place from Friday 28th August to Monday 31st August 2026.
