Could you help someone find the home and care they need in the UK’s first LGBTQIA+ Extra Care housing scheme?
You might already know that the Council, in partnership with Great Places and LGBT Foundation, are building the UK’s first LGBTQIA+ majority Extra Care housing scheme in Whalley Range.
The idea behind the Kindred House development is to provide appropriate accommodation for older LGBTQIA+ to live and enjoy their later years with dignity and respect, along with some care needs met on site – and without the worry of discrimination in later life.
It is expected that the homes will be completed in Summer 2027 and people are already being invited to join a waiting list and to receive more information.
If you work with or support customers who might be interested or could benefit from this type of older person’s housing, you can email: adam.preston@lgbt.foundation to find out more.
