Social Action and Research Foundation (SARF) is working with Manchester Creative Studio to carry out a Statutory Consultation.
Manchester Creative Studio is a new employer-led school opening in September 2014 which prepares young people aged 14-19 for a career in the creative industries.
Manchester has a large creative and digital cluster yet despite continuing growth, over half of employers in the sector anticipate problems in recruiting skilled staff. There is a clear growing skills shortage in the industry that traditional educational pathways are failing to address and the need for Manchester Creative Studio is shared by employers and educationalists across Greater Manchester.
The Directors of Manchester Creative Studio are undertaking Statutory Consultation under legislation set out in Section 60 of the Education Act 2011 to determine whether or not the company should enter into a funding agreement with the Secretary of State for Education.
They are seeking the views of creative industries employers, potential students and their parents as well as local authorities, educationalists and interested members of the public, including people from voluntary sector organisations.
