LGBT Foundation are hosting a Hate Crime Vigil in Sackville Gardens in the heart of Manchester’s Gay Village to commemorate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on Tuesday 17 May from 6-7pm. 
This is an opportunity for the community to come together and commemorate those who have been the victims of hate crime.
This year’s theme is on mental health and wellbeing and a variety of speakers from the LGBT community will be sharing their experiences.
Music will be provided by one of the UK’s largest LGBT choirs, Manchester Lesbian and Gay Chorus (MLGC).
Confirmed speakers so far are Human Rights Activist and LGBT Equality Advocate Aderonke Apata; Sarah Evans, Creative Director of Art with Heart; Body Image and Eating Disorder Advisor Daniel Perry; and Paul Martin OBE, Chief Executive of LGBT Foundation.
Everyone is welcome to join the event, where a minute’s silence will be held for people to reflect and lay flowers on the Beacon of Hope. Groups and organisations are also welcome to attend wearing their uniform/kit as a show of solidarity with the community.
