2. Thank You Manchester Volunteers Thunderclap on Social Media

Join the noise on social media...

What is Thunderclap?

"Social media is an easy way to say something, but it’s a difficult way to be heard. Thunderclap is the first-ever crowdspeaking platform that helps people be heard by saying something together. It allows a single message to be mass-shared, flash mob-style, so it rises above the noise of your social networks. By boosting the signal at the same time, Thunderclap helps a single person create action and change like never before".

Volunteer Centre Manchester will be launching a Thunderclap thank you message to Manchester Volunteers to coincide with the end of Volunteers' Week 2016.

You can help us say it best!

We'd like to tweet something like this:

“Thank You #MCR #Volunteers! - It's hard to put into words: *"INSERT QUOTE HERE".”.

*We need your help to choose a suitable quote to include from the following:

  • I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks
  • Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless
  • It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice
  • Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something

Voting is now OPEN!

Please take some time to vote for your favourite quote(s) - you can vote for more than one!

Vote now via the Doodle Poll website at: http://doodle.com/poll/ftdhscbihmd5t7qz.

Doodle Poll closes on Friday 3rd June, the Thunderclap campaign will launch during the second week of Volunteers' Week 2016.

5. Volunteer Voices - Powered by Community Reporting Training from Volunteer Centre Manchester

Date & Time: 3 June, 2016 - 10:00 to 16:00

Venue: Manchester

This course takes place during Volunteers' Week 2016.

Volunteers’ Week is an annual event which takes place at the start of June. It celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK and is an opportunity to raise the profile of volunteering nationally.

The Institute of Community Reporters is a storytelling movement that uses stories and realities to raise the profile of voluntary and community organisations. It has also been used to showcase work and highlight issues in communities as a means of consultation and influencing change.

We hope you'll join us during Volunteers' Week 2016 to learn community reporting concepts and to join the Manchester-based community reporters team; where you can continue to produce and share content as part of a peer network.

This training is suited to people who already volunteer for an organisation - who would like to use the training to share stories about volunteering and for anybody who would like to get involved in community reporting - by being matched with an organisation to help them tell their stories as part of the programme.

Objective

As part of the course content, participants will be asked to produce a video that feeds into the 'Volunteer Voices' in Manchester message that reflects:

  • How and why people start volunteering
  • The varierty of opportunities that people are involved in as volunteers
  • What people enjoy most about volunteering
  • The impact of volunteering
  • Advice and information for people wanting to get involved in volunteering

There are 12 places available.

Further information and booking for this training opportunity is available via the Volunteer Centre Manchester website at: http://bit.ly/1WuF2rW.
