NHS Blood and Transplant are launching a local campaign on Thursday 9 March 2017, which is World Kidney Day.
There are around 5,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant across the UK and a third of those waiting are black, Asian or minority ethnic. Patients with black and Asian heritage wait longer for a kidney transplant than a white patient due to the lack of suitable organs. More donors from black and Asian communities could make a real difference to those waiting.
NHS Blood and Transplant are looking for people to become ambassadors within their community, businesses to support and spread the campaign message through their channels any anyone that may have received a transplant to share their story.
