Breakthrough UK are inviting disabled women who connected over Breakthrough’s Democracy Disability Devolution Events to join a new weekly peer group. It is a welcoming, accessible and friendly safe space where disabled women can relax and enjoy being in a group.
The group meets every Tuesday afternoon from 1.30pm to 3pm at the Abraham Moss Centre in Crumpsall. It’s a place to share experiences and support, feel listened to, know your rights and develop skills, self-esteem and self-confidence.
Here’s what peer support group members have to say:
“It has been good today and been relaxing”
“It’s been a very good afternoon. Feel like the group is giving me more confidence.”
“I like it. I like being with other people. I like meeting the staff. I like the peer group. I like getting on with other people.”
‘Side by Side’ groups are funded with a small grant from Mind to promote women’s wellbeing. Local travel and access costs can be paid. Members lead the group and decide how it is run. Breakthrough staff and volunteers offer support.
You can chat to other women in the group, find out more about from Breakthrough staff, and sign up to join.
