Charity of Character Kitemark Launched

Never before has the development of character been so relevant. Resilience can provide children with the strength to navigate through the adversity caused by Covid-19. Compassion can create a culture of understanding and empathy for how others have been affected. And as we retreat to our small social bubbles to ensure our safety, a sense of civic duty will ensure that the vulnerable aren’t out of sight and out of mind.

For this reason it seemed timely for the UK’s leading character education charity to launch the first Charity of Character Kitemark. The kitemark is awarded to charities that can demonstrate that they support children and young people to flourish through the development of their character.

CEO Tom Haigh said, “We have taken a lot from the Schools of Character Kitemark which has been such as success, and applied it to the charity sector.

“The kitemark provides charities with a framework that can help them reflect on how they develop character in children and young people. And it will provide much needed recognition for the role this sector plays in enabling young people to thrive in this way.”
