A recent coronavirus vaccine trial in the UK included 91% white people. Only 5% of participants were Asian, and <1% were black.

People of certain ethnicities are more likely to be seriously ill from the coronavirus. Plus, clinical trials generally mostly include white people, while other ethnic groups are underrepresented. With the search underway for a vaccine, it’s critical that these are tested on a diverse group of people.
