Foster carers needed in Manchester

24 Sep 2020 - 15:25 by michelle.foster

action for childrenAre you passionate about making a difference to children and young people and have the time and energy to support a child? Becoming a foster carer will be one of the most rewarding things you ever do.

You will be providing a loving and stable home for a child who can no longer live with their family. The children we find families for have had difficult starts in life. Some have experienced traumatic childhoods. Many only come to us as teenagers. Could you be the one to finally give them a stable place to call home? Of course, it can sometimes be challenging, but we will be there to support you every step of the way.

Action for Children provide their foster carers with:

  • Excellent training
  • 24 hours support
  • Generous financial packages (£435-£600 per week)

Foster carers come from all walks of life and a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups. The only essential requirements are that you are over 24 and have a spare bedroom. Action for Children don’t have an upper age limit. Your sexuality, marital status or whether you own a home will not affect whether you can foster.

Note: Foster Carers are registered self-employed and receive a tax-free exemption of up to £10,000 per year and further tax relief while a foster child is in your care. Foster carers are eligible for NI credits which counts towards state pension. Income Benefits may be affected depending on your situation and local council policy. Foster Carers will only receive payments while they have a child or young person in placement. Other conditions apply, visit www.gov.uk for further information on tax allowance and benefits.
