Manchester Mind: A History in Objects

24 Sep 2020 - 15:40 by michelle.foster

a history in objectsIt is just about a year since Manchester Mind’s 30th anniversary. Manchester Mind had planned for 19 September 2019 to be the start of their celebrations, which would have ended this year with their AGM. So much for plans! Such a lot has happened since that warm autumn evening in September – none of which was predicted and all our worlds have since changed, with no sign at the moment of when or how the world will look going forward. So what better than to have a little reminisce to a more settled time – if only we had known that then!

One of the things Manchester Mind really enjoyed putting together and that they were very proud of was their exhibition illustrating The History of Manchester Mind in 30 Objects. This turned out to be a mixture of items from their organisational past and of more personal items from staff which documented their connections with Manchester Mind or why they do the work they do. It was both moving and powerful. So much so, they decided to document it in the form of a catalogue, which is available here.

The collection is testimony to the great achievements made by HARP and Manchester Mind over the last 30 years.
