Building on the learnings from Action for Conservation’s flagship Penpont Project (the world’s largest youth-led nature restoration project), they are aiming to support other youth-led land-based restoration projects over the coming years. Action for Conservation are excited to announce that they are beginning with a small scale project in the Yorkshire Dales National Park – Garsdale Pike Project.
Garsdale Pike is a 195-acre upland area in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, roughly 5 miles from the town of Sedburgh. The current landowner Rosey Grandage is working with Action for Conservation to create an opportunity for young people to research, explore, build a deeper understanding of nature and how ecosystems can be regenerated and restored.
Youth Leadership Group
To support the development, design and delivery of the first stage of the project Action for Conservation are looking for 10 -20 passionate, energetic and creative young people to join them for an initial 2-year period between April 2021 and April 2023. Applications are now open for young people aged 12 - 17 living in North West England and the Yorkshire Dales to join a new Youth Leadership Group to help drive meaningful change in the Yorkshire Dales, restoring the landscape for people and wildlife.
