Manchester’s Youth Play and Participation Service (YPPS) is looking to award funding to local Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations to support the delivery of YPPS in the city. The Grant focuses on securing sufficient provision of educational and recreational leisure-time activities for children and young people, and to make sure they have a say in the local offer.
The YPPS VCS Grant aims to:
- Connect children and young people with their communities
- Offer children and young people opportunities in safe environments to take part in a wide range of activities
- Support the personal, social, political and economic development of children and young people
- Improve young people’s physical and mental health, and emotional wellbeing, and support them with making key decisions about where they work, live and play
There is a total of £1.2 million available from 1 July 2023 to 31 up to 31 March 2024, then a total of £1.6 million to 31 March 2025 to VCS organisations delivering youth and play services. Successful organisations will need to meet a number of requirements linked to local Manchester strategies and work to meet tangible outcomes that are measurable and reportable.
The purpose of this Grant is for VCS organisations to deliver activities or projects that will meet the needs of children and young people in certain wards of the city. Successful organisations are expected to liaise and work with other VCS and statutory organisations to deliver effective and efficient services identified by children and young people. They are also expected to attend and contribute to District based Networks to jointly address issues, support each other and develop the youth and play workforce. Manchester City Council welcomes applications from groups who are Manchester based, and groups working together in a partnership with one organisation acting as the lead, accountable organisation.
