During this workshop, we (Shoosmiths) will explore some of the practical data protection issues which arise during the employment life cycle. Following a fictional member of staff from their initial recruitment, through the course of their working life and after their employment has ended, we will look at how employers can navigate tricky data protection issues including:-

• Can we carry out criminal record checks and what are the data protection issues?
• When exactly do we need to carry out a data protection impact assessment?
• What are the data protection issues that need to be considered in a hybrid working world?
• I have just dealt with an employee’s DSAR and discovered misconduct …. help … can I rely on it?
• Right to be forgotten … what is it … and how does it apply in the employment context.
