Shoosmiths: #Discovering Employee Data Protection: Managing a Data Subject Access Request

Date & time: 15 October 2024, 10:00am - 12:00pm
Venue
Online

During the final workshop in the series, we (Shoosmiths) look at how employers can effectively deal with workplace data subject access requests (DSARs). The Information Commissioner’s Office received over 15,000 DSAR complaints last year and has made it clear that organisations will be subject to fines or reprimand if they do not respond to DSARs properly and promptly. With this in mind and the number of DSARs on the rise, particularly in the context of grievances and employment disputes, now is the time to ensure your staff know how to properly manage a DSAR in compliance with the law. This workshop will include the following:

  • What is a DSAR?
  • Initial considerations when receiving a DSAR
  • Understanding redactions
  • Dealing with third party information
  • Applying exemptions
  • Reflecting on past processes and preparing the business for future DSARs
  • Interplay between DSARs and litigation
