Community Explorers: Exploring Social Housing in Manchester

Our next Community Explorers will be themed around housing in Manchester. We will be joined by Social Homes for Manchester and Manchester City Council to discuss social housing in Manchester and how we can work together to advocate for change and address the housing challenges faced by the communities your organisations support.

We will hear presentations from the panel below, before a Q&A session and table discussions led by our speakers around the housing challenges participant organisations are addressing and the housing issues they feel the Social Homes for Manchester Coalition/Commission should be looking at.  

• Cllr Gavin White, Executive Member for Housing, Manchester City Council and Commissioner: Manchester Housing Crisis and work around sustainable social rent homes  
• Lily Axworthy, CEO, Greater Together Manchester, Social Homes for Manchester Coalition: National and Local action of the Social Homes for Manchester Commision
• Thirza Amina Asanga-Rae, Director of Millennium Windrush Centre, Moss Side; Organiser with GM Tenants Union and Commissioner: Introduction to the Social Homes for Manchester Coalition & Film Screening: What is the City but the People?
• Rachel Summerscales, Coordinator, GM Community Led Homes Hub and Social Homes for Manchester Coalition: Community Led Housing Hub

There will also be time for networking throughout the event, and a plant-based lunch will be provided!
