Community Explorers: Unlocking the Power of Co-Production

Date & time: 27 April 2026, 10:00am - 2:30pm
Venue
St. Thomas Centre, Ardwick Green North, Manchester, M12 6FZ

As Manchester begins to refresh the Compact for the city and continues to explore how the VCSE sector can help shape the future of local services through Public Service Reform, Live Well and other major initiatives, we're bringing people together to share good practice, discuss the principles we value and most importantly, identify what's needed to turn co-production into real action across the city.

Speakers will explore existing framework for co-production and best practise examples:

  • Jennifer Rouse, VCSFE Accord Strategic Lead, GMCA - Greater Manchester VCFSE Accord
  • Kim Bridge, Services Manager (Multiple Disadvantage), Back on Track (and others tbc) - Co-production in Inclusive Employment Support
  • Katie Fraser, Head of Practice, Women in Prison – Co-Production Constitution and Still I Rise Magazine
  • Zara Hakobyan, Policy & Influence Manager, Manchester Community Central - Public Service Reform Group and Refreshing the Manchester Compact

This event offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Hear examples of successful co-production in practice
  • Have open discussions about how we can move beyond talk and start doing
  • Contribute your ideas and experiences
  • Help shape our city-wide approach to making co-production a tangible way of cross-sector working.

Co-production is more than a buzzword — it's a way of working that values everyone's assets, voices and contributions equally. It’s about sharing power, responsibility and building reciprocal relationships between professionals and communities, founded on accountability, effective communication and transparency.

Given that many conversations are already happening across different times and parts of the system, we want to make the most of the Community Explorers Forum and the extensive knowledge and expertise you bring and ensure that insights are fed into the right places and influential conversations across the board.

To achieve this, we have invited statutory and cross-sector colleagues to be in the room, participate in the discussions and listen to your perspectives. More than ever, this event will focus on the power of collaborative dialogue to address two key areas:

  • Understanding the core values and principles that underpin co-production and identifying the drivers that will turn these principles into real action, moving beyond words on paper.
  • Exploring the refresh of the Manchester Compact and how everyone can get involved in shaping a collective, city-wide framework that truly works for Manchester.

Plant based lunch will be provided. Sign up below.
