Faith and Belief Roundtable – Migration and Homelessness

Date & time: 13 November 2024, 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Venue
Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Tootal Buildings, 56 Oxford Street, Manchester M1 6EU

Faith and Belief organisations and networks contribute in many different ways to society, especially to those most disadvantaged. This includes people experiencing homelessness as well as those seeking asylum, refugees and other migrants, many of whom are facing such challenging times. For those who face barriers to mainstream or local authority services, for example if they have no recourse to public funds, it is often Faith and Belief that people turn to. They are trusted, embedded in communities in a unique way and can offer spiritual, emotional and practical advice, guidance and care. Providing key support in circumstances of crisis but also the sense of community and belonging required to prevent people from experiencing crisis and helping with long-term recovery.

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority would like to bring together Faith and Belief representatives to explore what support is being provided, learn from others and share good practice. To enable greater collaboration, now and in the future, GMCA will also share updates and get feedback on their plans and activity in relation to migration and homelessness, including the development of a GM Migration and Inclusion Strategy.
