Starting a Group Made Simple: Get Ready for Funding

Want to make a difference in your community? The In Our Nature programme has partnered with Manchester Community Central to support people in Manchester who are looking at setting up a community group, or to build their grassroots initiative.

This workshop introduces the fundamentals of setting up a small community group and preparing to apply for funding. You’ll explore how to define your group’s purpose and activities, create a basic constitution, and lay the groundwork for funding applications.

The workshop will run from 2-4pm, with free lunch available from 1-2pm before we get started.

Key topics the workshop will cover:

  • Developing essential policies
  • Establishing basic governance
  • Managing simple finances
  • Evidencing the need and impact
  • Identifying potential funding sources

Perfect for anyone aiming to launch a grassroots initiative and build a strong foundation for future growth and support.

The workshop will be at the classroom on the top floor of the Manchester Museum and will start straight after the Meet the Changemakers event that will run from 11-1pm. Manchester Museum’s Top Floor is a space for learning, connecting and inspiring change and Meet the Changemakers is our quarterly event that gives you the chance to meet the communities, charities, activists and artists shaping a more sustainable and fair future for Manchester.
