Shifting the Conversation: Developing our workforce and volunteering to support moving more

Date & time: 24 March 2025, 9:30am - 1:30pm
Venue
Friends Meeting House, Central Manchester

Systems Leadership supports the workforce to help communities to live more active lives. Over the last two years we have hosted a series of workshops on topics such as: Storytelling, community reporting, coaching, community engagement, inclusive leadership, facilitation, framing and values. We have focused on amplifying leadership for those without positional power, levers to pull, or a large budget to wield with people across sectors.

Supporting active lives for all means developing new skills, behaviours and mindsets with our paid workforce and volunteers. GM Moving has a strong history of creating opportunities for people to learn, share and test out ideas, and evolve new ways of working. This has been supported through three strands of work:

  • Systems Leadership workshops and locality conversations/challenges
  • Different conversations training
  • Sports volunteering Community of Practice and test and learn grants programme

Join on 24 March to:

  • Share stories and hear how people are applying learning to support physical activity and movement in their own contexts.
  • Access interactive workshops to develop your practice around: coaching, storytelling, having different conversations about physical activity, developing inclusive volunteering and more
  • Based on your own experiences and learnings being in this space, explore how we sustain and embed this work and help shape GM Moving’s future plans for developing workforce and volunteering.

This event is for people who have attended GM Moving's Systems Leadership workshops, Different Conversations training or the Sports Volunteering Community of Practice, and anyone who is interested in learning more about this work.
