Safeguarding Toolkit Launch - 18th July 2012

Come along to the launch of the Manchester Vo luntary Sector Safeguarding Toolkit - a 2 hour wor kshop to introduce the toolkit, find out more inf ormation regarding support available within the ci ty of Manchester and a valuable opportunity to net work and ask any burning questions around safeguar ding.

Colleagues from Manchester City Coun cil will also be attending to speak about how the toolkit will be used in future commissions and fun ding opportunities.

The Olympic Torch Relay in Manchester

The Olympic Flame comes to Manchester as local residents carry it through it the city streets ahead of London 2012.

Residents will be able to cheer the torchbearers on and celebrate work they have done to improve life in their neighbourhoods when the Olympic flame comes through Manchester on Saturday June 23.

The torch relay will come into Manchester from Salford at around 5.40pm on June 23 and will travel along Elizabeth Street, Queens Road, Cheetham Hill Road and Miller Street before a 15 minute stop outside the Co-op headquarters on Balloon Street just before 6pm.

Public Law & Judicial Review North 2012: Challenges to Justice

The Public Law Project (PLP) is an independent, national legal charity which aims to improve access to public law remedies for those whose access is restricted by poverty, discrimination or other similar barriers.

To fulfil its objectives PLP undertakes research, policy initiatives, casework and training across the range of public law remedies.

At this conference there will be an opening address by the Hon Mr Justice Hickinbottom.

Domestic Violence Awareness event

The Challenging Hate Forum, meets monthly at Manchester
Cathedral and at various venues in and around the city, they are hosting a special public meeting to focus on raising awareness of domestic violence.

A major contribution to this event will be made by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which hopes to raise awareness and highlight issues of Domestic Violence, the impact on victims and witnesses and to provide information on the special measures the CPS can offer in order to support victims and witnesses.
