The National Prospectus Grants Programme 2015-16

Through the National Prospectus Grant Programme The Department for Education (DfE) want to help improve outcomes for children and young people (particularly those who are disadvantaged) and support for their families.

The DfE has identified seven policies themes it wishes to fund through this National Prospectus. Bids must be made specifically in support of one, or more, of the following seven policy themes below. A separate application is required for each theme.

Living Wage Week 2014

Living Wage Week is a UK-wide celebration of the Living Wage and Living Wage Employers. The aim of the week is to raise awareness of the Living Wage and the Living Wage Employer Mark.

In 2014 Living Wage Week will take place on the 2-8 November.

The new UK and London Living Wage rates for 2014-15 will be announced on Monday 3 November. The UK Living Wage rate will be announced simultaneously in cities around the UK whilst the London rate will be announced by Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

BBC Community Doorway scheme

The BBC’s Community Doorway programme is where charities and community organisations can apply to access the skills and expertise of BBC staff volunteers to help deliver a one-off project.

You may want support to create a short film to showcase the work of your charity, to set up a website, or even to produce a community event of your own.

FUNDED Greater Manchester Training for care providers and volunteers

Knowledge only units in Learning Disability / Dementia / Mental Health / and Physical Disability, available to your staff

Acacia Training have just won a new contract for the Greater Manchester area via the European Social Care Fund to fund some free Mental Health, Physical Disability, Learning Disability and Dementia training to your staff and any volunteers based within this area.

Please see attached a list of the units that they can fund to employed staff who are working a minimum of 8 hours per week and if they are aged 19 years old or over!

Neighbourhood Planning Workshop Grants available

There’s a new grant funding pool from (Department for Communities and Local Government) DCLG now available to encourage communities to take up neighbourhood planning.

Local groups can apply for grants of up to £2,000 to run a neighbourhood planning workshop in their community. The workshop must be run by knowledgeable and enthusiastic advocate of neighbourhood planning, with the aim of giving a community the information they need to begin the neighbourhood planning process.

Extra money for Reaching Communities applicants

The Big Lottery have found that community groups are so busy doing their day-to-day work that they have little time or money left for their staff and trustees to learn new skills or focus on long-term goal.

So they have decided to offer extra money to organisations who are applying to their Reaching Communities programme to help them develop their skills, knowledge and confidence.

Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council have a fantastic opportunity to invest cash back of £30,000 into the community of Wythenshawe.

Do you have a great idea or a project that needs funding?

You can bid for a grant between £500 - £3000.

Adactus Neighbourhood Fund - Round 2 apply by 10 Nov

In Manchester, Trafford and Cheshire Adactus tenants have allocated around £80,000 to 94 projects. Projects ranged from youth diversionary activities to healthy living to environmental improvements.

£7,000 remains so Adactus are asking for bids of up to £1,000 from community projects in Manchester, Trafford and Cheshire operating in areas where Adactus tenants live. Funding must be spent by 28 February 2015.

Funding to prevent female genital mutilation and other forms of so-called honour based violence

The Department for Communities and Local Government, in collaboration with the Government Equalities Office, is launching a call for applications for community engagement work to prevent female genital mutilation and other forms of so-called honour based violence. Any voluntary sector organisation, under section 70 of the Charities Act 2006, including faith groups, are invited to apply for a one-off grant of between £2,000 and £15,000.

In their shoes: Understanding more about refugees and the asylum process

The Refugee Welcome Trust are offering an interactive workshop promoting understanding of the asylum process and how it might feel to be a refugee.

How it works
It’s a card game based session looks at some of the situations and experiences for refugees as they leave their home country and travel to the UK. The game goes through some typical stages of the asylum process with each participant being given a character to take along the journey and discussion about each stage.
