The Environment, Climate Change and Neighbourhoods Scrutiny Committee convened for its first meeting of 2024 on May 23rd. Chaired by Councillor Shilton Godwin, the agenda featured two items: Item 1, which comprised the Manchester City Council's Climate Change Programme, Climate Change Action Plan Work Programme 2024-25 and Climate Change Action Plan 2025-30 Development for discussion in public, as well as the Item 2, a forthcoming council work review to be looked at after the public recording is closed.
The VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme will help voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs) across England to deliver more efficient services for people and communities by saving money on their energy bills.
The VCSE Energy Efficiency Scheme is offering Independent Energy Assessments to help identify energy-saving opportunities in your building. The programme also offers Capital Grants to implement measures recommended in your assessment.
The Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund (2024 – 2025) is a joint Recycle for Greater Manchester and SUEZ initiative to support the Greater Manchester Community and Voluntary Sector to deliver projects which prevent, reuse or recycle household waste, promote sustainable use of waste and resources and generate wider social benefits for the community of Greater Manchester.
A total of £220,000 grant funding is available for distribution in two grant sizes.
Movement for Good’s first £5,000 draw of 2024 opens for five days only on 19-23 February 2024.

The committee discussed the Compliance and Enforcement Services - Performance in 2022/23 report. This report provides an update on demand for and performance of the Compliance and Enforcement service during 2022/23. The report also provides a forward look at on- going and new challenges as a result of changes to legislation, policy and areas of growth that will have an impact on the work carried out by Compliance & Enforcement teams. The members scrutinized the report in three sections; the neighbourhood compliance, neighbourhood crimes and neighbourhood project teams.
