Parks improvements funding 2021

parks imageManchester City Council are making £12.5m available to support a range of capital investment opportunities in the city's parks and green spaces, to realise their vision for parks to be the heart, lungs and soul of the city.

The City Council want to hear from local groups and organisations with ideas to use this funding: to build upon, add to, or improve park assets.

The £12.5m will be split:

Thyme for Growing: it makes sense – Gentle volunteer gardening for the over 50's

gardening imageRyder Brow Community Allotment Society is offering a gentle gardening volunteering workshop for the over 50's. Beneficiaries will be guided in designing and creating a sensory garden, no previous experience is required. It is hoped that the attendees will be motivated for weekly visits to maintain the garden.

Climate Action Fund – round 2

national lottery community fundThe Climate Action Fund (CAF) is supporting communities across the UK to take action on climate change. These communities will demonstrate what’s possible when people lead in this work. With National Lottery funding, they’ll work together, share their learning and be active participants in a broader movement of change.

action for conservationBuilding on the learnings from Action for Conservation’s flagship Penpont Project (the world’s largest youth-led nature restoration project), they are aiming to support other youth-led land-based restoration projects over the coming years.

Weston Communicating Climate

westonAn exciting new six-month programme for small-medium climate and environmental organisations supported by the Garfield Weston Foundation.

This programme will support 30 UK-based organisations to extend the power and reach of their communications work, through structured strategic communications training, mentoring by media and communications experts, peer networking and media interview training.
